About Our Movies Trivia

Ask a film buff for a favorite fact and they rarely reach for a box-office figure or an Oscar tally. They reach for how a shot got made - the set built at full scale and then wrecked in a single take, the sleight of hand the camera pulled, the practical trick a computer could have faked but didn't.

This puzzle lives in that territory, drawing on roughly three decades of movies from the 1990s onward. One day the answer is a film that filled every multiplex screen in the country; the next it is a subtitled festival winner that a few thousand people saw and never forgot. Mainstream spectacle and world-cinema arthouse sit side by side here on purpose. The only thing every answer shares is that it left a mark worth remembering.

That is also why the hardest clue is never a plot summary. A single production detail - where a scene was shot, what was real and what was a model - rewards the viewer who went looking behind the screen, long before the final clue lands.
